Sustainability: Responsible Sourcing
It is becoming increasingly important to our customers that they know where construction products and their constituent ingredients originate from, and what impact the making of these products has on the environment.
Responsible sourcing of construction materials is based on the fundamental principles of life cycle stewardship which is at the centre of the Brundtland definition of sustainable development as ‘’development which meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’’
It is therefore right that the consequences and impacts of using materials should be considered from the point at which they are extracted or harvested in the raw state, through to manufacturing, design, installation and finally disposal.
